Dear friends and colleagues,
SIOP is fully aware of the challenges that everyone is facing with the Coronavirus pandemic. Our thoughts go out to all cancer patients around the world and their caregivers who are particularly affected by the crisis!
The 2020 SIOP Annual Congress is still scheduled to take place October 14-17 in Ottawa, but the SIOP Board are keeping the timing and format under constant consideration.
We are also looking into adding a session that will cover the impact of COVID-19 on the treatment and care of children and adolescents with cancer, as well as the paediatric cancer research funding landscape in addition to specific country case-studies.
In light of the above, we would be interested in learning how our members are rising to challenges posed by the pandemic. Please don’t hesitate to use the form below to share any relevant information, insights and resources with us, which we can post on our dedicated COVID-19 Resources webpage on the SIOP website.
In recognition of the increasing pressures on clinical services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to extend the SIOP 2020 abstract submission deadline until April 16 (12:00 midnight PST). Abstract acceptance notification will be in late June.
If you are ready to submit your contribution, click here or follow the button below.
We will also extend the submission deadline for Scholarships, Young Investigator Awards and Schweisguth Prize applications to April 16 (12:00 midnight PST). If you are ready to send your application, click here or follow the button below.
The deadline for the SIOP 2021 Hawaii Annual Congress Keynote, Symposium and Meet-the-Expert proposals will stay the same. Please submit your suggestions by April 01 (12:00 midnight PST) by clicking here or follow the button below.
The SIOP Board will be reviewing the format of the Annual Congress in late April. Please be reassured that we plan to evaluate the submitted abstracts through our usual process with the Scientific Committee and all accepted abstracts will be published in the usual special supplement of Pediatric Blood and Cancer. The deadline for early bird registration remains unchanged at 29 July 2020 but will also be kept under review. We wish you all strength in your daily work and to stay well during these difficult times for all around the world. The message from our colleagues in China and Italy is to be prepared. Yours, Prof Kathy Pritchard-Jones, SIOP President on behalf of the SIOP Board and Congress Organisers |
