The IHOPe (Institut d’Hématologie Oncologie Pédiatrique) is offering a position of Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Oncology Drug Development.
The IHOPe is a major French hemato-oncological center. It comprises 10 senior doctors who are European KOL in leukemia, sarcomas, Wilms tumors, Ependymomas, Germ cell tumors. The IHOPe is the leader of a regional web based multidisciplinary conference between Lyon, Grenoble, Clermont Ferrand and Saint Etienne. The IHOPe is a founding member of ITCC and is a major contributor for inclusion of new patients for phase I /II. It is recognized as one out of 4 European centers that is able to act as a sponsor for trials of ITCC. IHOPe is closely related to Centre Léon Bérard (CLB), a well-known regional anti-cancer center. IHOPe is part of an AYA group, and has obtained the qualification of CLIPP (Centres labellisés de phase précoce) in pediatrics, attached to the already existing adult Clipp of CLB.
The CLB has several Research units: The Clinical Research Platform, The Cancer Research Centre of Lyon: a basic research that employs 400 people including 120 researchers and teaching researchers. It is composed of 20 teams organized around three priority research themes: a/ Mechanisms of escape from premature senescence and apoptosis; b/ Mechanisms of escape from immunosurveillance, inflammation and virally-induced cancers; c/ Cancer cell plasticity and intra-tumor heterogeneity. The major scientific interest of these research teams are neuroblastoma, sarcoma, among others.
Translational Research platforms are able to perform: preclinical animal studies, experimental surgery , genomic profiling involved in large molecular profiling programs and specific hot-spot sequencing for molecular pre-screening, onsite Bioinformatics Platform, immune-monitoring. The Drug Discovery Platform provides scientific, technical and regulatory expertise to on-site academic lab research willing to develop innovative IMP.
The potential role of the fellow will be to consolidate and develop the currently running Paediatric and Adolescent Oncology Targeted Drug Development Programme. The fellow will be part of a team that includes Paediatric Drug Development Consultants, dedicated pediatric Research Nurses, and dedicated pediatric Data Managers. The Fellow will take care of children and young people enrolled on early clinical studies of new agents, and will participate to clinical and basic meetings of the pediatric and adult department. The fellow will be involved in preliminary discussions with academic and industrial structures, for the design and conception of innovative trials.
The position is opened for recruitment as soon as possible, for a French speaking fellow (whether or not directly fluent). Candidates should have a curriculum proving their clinical experience in pediatric hemato-oncology and their clinical and/or theoretical expertise on phase I-II and equivalence to french diplomas. The position is available for one year at least.
